BELGRADE: A Serbian military helicopter crashed on the outskirts of Belgrade, killing all seven onboard, the defence ministry said Saturday.
The Russian-made Mi17 helicopter had been transporting a five-day-old baby in critical medical condition from Novi Pazar, in south-western Serbia.
The aircraft also carried two doctors and four crew.
It arrived at Belgrade late Friday night, but was unable to find the airport in poor weather, the ministry said.
It circled the area until disappearing from the radar, apparently after running out of fuel.
Rescuers found the wreckage not far from Belgrade's international airport, just west of the city. – dpa
