BMW Group Malaysia launched a new and limited edition 520d Sport earlier this week during the BMW Malaysian Open 2015 tennis tournament in Kuala Lumpur.
Based on the updated 2015 520d model, the 520d Sport comes powered by an all-new turbocharged fourcylinder diesel mill. The package now offers an increased output of 190hp and peak torque rated at 400Nm, marking an increase from the previous iteration’s rating of 180hp and 380Nm. Also improved is the mill’s efficiency, with the new unit boasting a claimed average fuel consumption of 4.1 litres/100km and low emissions rating of 109g/km, marking a 9% improvement in fuel consumption over its predecessor.
Notably, the 520d Sport is primed with several additional features over the standard 520d model. These include an M Sport steering wheel sans paddle-shifters, a subtle M Sport exterior kit, as well as a set of new and sporty 18-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 245/45-sized tyres in front and 274/40-sized units in the rear. Other than these enhancements, the 520d Sport carries over much of the standard features found in the regular 520d such as the interactive iDrive infotainment controls, as well as three selectable driving modes.
BMW Group Malaysia states that only 50 examples of the 520d Sport will be offered for Malaysian buyers via its authorised dealers starting April 1. Each unit will be priced the same as the regular 520d at RM354,800 inclusive of BMW’s Service + Repair Inclusive package.
