McLaren introduces 675LT

FAMED British supercar makers McLaren bowed at the on-going Geneva Motor Show last weekend with the debut of its new and limited edition 675LT (Long Tail) supercar.
Based on the 650S Coupe, the 675LT comes brimmed with several notable upgrades and enhancements to make it even more potent. The 675LT weighs 100kg less than the 650S base car at 1,230kg. The power output from the firm’s signature 3.8-litre twin turbocharged V8 engine has also increased by 25%, with power now rated at 675hp and 700Nm of peak torque.
Other upgrades performed include stiffer springs, a recalibrated SSG transmission, and an enhanced electronic stability control (ESC) system, all of which echoes the tweaks performed on the brand’s McLaren F1 GTR Long Tail of 1997. An optional McLaren Club Sport pack is also available for an additional cost-adding a titanium roll hoop in the cabin, along with a four-point harness and a fire extinguisher.
As a result of the lightened weight and increased engine output, the 675LT sprints from standstill to 100km/h by 0.1 second quicker than the 650S in just 2.9 seconds, and half-a-second quicker from standstill to 200km/h in just 7.9 seconds. Top speed, on the other hand, has been rated at 330km/h instead.
Available for orders now, McLaren plans to make just 500 units of the 675LT, each priced at £259,500 (RM1.45 million) plus an additional £5,090 (RM28,405) for the aforementioned optional pack.
